6-DAY ULTIMATE HIKING PACKAGE
DAY-1 CULTURAL CENTER AND SHORT HIKE
Arriving early morning to Huaraz by bus or plane you will be met by a secure taxi and privately transferred back to the lodge. Upon arrival, you will have an opportunity to check-in and rest after your early morning/long night. When ready you can either do a tour of our affiliated community center which supports the local indigenous population and/or do a 2-hour hike around the local area to help acclimatize and acquaint you with the local vistas. At the end of the day take advantage of the wood-fired sauna to help you rest and relax before a four course, family style, dinner. All Meals Included.
DAY-2 COJUP VALLEY
Test your lungs with your first big hike at altitude up the Cojup valley in Huascaran National Park offering stunning vistas of the most impressive glaciers in the area. After a hearty breakfast your private taxi will come and pick you up at the lodge and drive you to the trail head, 15 minutes away. Around 2 hours into the hike you will come to a lookout over the valley with views of the glaciers Palcaraju and Pucaranra. Continuing on for another 2 hours you will arrive to the picturesque Palacocha Lake. At the lake enjoy your packed lunch before hiking back down to your private vehicle for your transfer back to the lodge. Hike is 27 km and takes around 7 hours with drop-off and pick-up. This hike is recommended for starting as it offers a gentle incline to the lake at 4500 meters with a gentle incline back down. All Meals Included.
DAY-3 LLACA GLACIER LAKE
Leaving from the front gates of Lazy Dog Inn you will hike into Huascaran National Park from the front gates of Lazy Dog Inn. Out the gates you will connect with a single track that will take you to the entry gates of the National Park and into the steep Llaca valley until you reach the glacier fed lake of Llaca. Here you can gaze upon the face of Oshapalca glacier before heading back down to a well-deserved dinner. Hike is 15km from the front door of The Lazy Dog Inn and will take between 6 to 8 hours to complete. If preferred, you can drive a bumpy road to the top of the valley, where the glacier and lake is only a 10 minute walk away. For a shorter hike you can be dropped off at the top of the hike and walk back down to the lodge or you can do a roundtrip with car support and shorten to a 4 hour day. All Meals Included.
DAY-4 REST & RUINS
Late morning you can choose to either be picked up by taxi or bike to visit the pre-Incan burial tombs of Wilkawain. Enjoy a self-guided tour as you learn about the Wari civilization while walking through the complex. Returning to LDI you will have the option to eat at the Café down the road that directly supports the local community (note the café is seasonal open from June to mid-October), lunch in a local home, or relax with lunch back at the lodge. The remainder of the day will be spent relaxing to gear up for your steep hike up Churup mountain the next day. If preferred this day can be substituted with a 2-3 hour horseback ride along the local trails and communities. All Meals Included.
DAY-5 CHURUP LAKE
In the morning you will be met by your private taxi and transferred 25 minutes to the trail head of Churup Lake. One of the more challenging hikes, with a mix of steep inclines and aid climbing up boulders, pays off with sweeping views of the Cordillera Negra and of the steep valley lined with waterfalls. Upon reaching the lake at 4400 meters, relax and enjoy your lunch before deciding to climb to the secret lake located another hour towards the mountain peaks, or relax a bit more before heading back down to your taxi that awaits you. While only a 7 km hike round-trip, the constant incline of the trail and technicality ensures a 4-6 hour hike with vehicle support. All Meals Included.
DAY-6 DEPARTURE
After a leisurely morning your safe-taxi will arrive at your preferred time to privately transfer you to either the local airport or bus station.
